Migration

If you already have a monitoring system, you don't want to start from scratch. This section describes the paths.

• From Nagios — NSCA mode, plugin mapping, gradual agent rollout

• From Zabbix — item ↔ check, trigger ↔ alert rule, template ↔ profile

• From Checkmk — service ↔ check, rule ↔ alert rule, tag ↔ capability

General approach

Regardless of source system:

1. Inventory what's monitored today, granularity, thresholds
2. Concept mapping to Vesana terms (per system)
3. Test tenant in Vesana as playground
4. Pilot hosts monitored in parallel, compare values
5. Gradual cutover per host group

Tempting to migrate everything in a weekend, almost always leads to blind spots. Better 4 weeks of parallel operation.
