Hosts page & structure

The hosts page is where you find and organise your devices. It has two parts: on the left the structure column (tenants and your own folders), on the right the device list or the opened device. Above both sits the path bar.

Page layout

  • The structure column stays put when you open a device — switching devices is not a page change.
  • Hide structure (button in the toolbar) gives the list the full width; Show structure (button on the left of the path bar) brings it back. The F key toggles as well, as long as no input field has focus.
  • Drag the column's width at its right edge (190–460 px); double-clicking the handle resets it.
  • Below roughly 1100 px window width and on the phone the column steps aside by itself; the path bar then leads.
  • Visibility, width and the last selected spot are remembered per browser.

Structure column

Pinned at the top is "All devices" with the total count. Below it, every tenant has its own section — including a newly created customer without any device. Inside a tenant sit your folders (nested as deep as you like) and the devices; devices without a folder are collected under "Unassigned". Each row carries the number of devices (including subfolders) and a status dot.

  • Clicking a tenant or folder shows only its devices in the list and expands it. Clicking a device opens it directly.
  • The heading of the current tenant sticks while scrolling; the column remembers the last visited spot.
  • Above the column sits a narrow toolbar (level with the path bar) holding New host (device with plus — opens the create dialog with the tenant of the current selection preselected), New folder (folder with plus), Expand/collapse all and Hide structure. "All devices" stays below it as the first row at all times, including while scrolling.
  • Initially all sections are open, only what you collapse yourself is remembered.
  • Tenants can be reordered by dragging — the order also applies to the device list next to it, so important customers can sit at the top.
  • Even with many tenants and thousands of devices the column stays quick — only the visible rows are built.

Creating and maintaining folders

Folders require the permission edit hosts. You reach their actions by right-click or via the visible ⋯ on the row. Every right-click menu in the column starts with Refresh (reloads devices, folders and tenants):

A folder name must be unique within the same parent. Tenants always carry their own icon and cannot be re-iconed — a renamed folder must never look like a tenant.

Sorting devices in

  • Dragging: Drag devices and whole folders within the column, or out of the device list, into a folder. An insertion marker shows exactly where something lands — that is also how you set the order of devices and folders. A collapsed folder opens as soon as you hover over it briefly.
  • Right-click on a device → "Move to folder" offers the same assignment as a pick list; "Unassigned" takes the device out of its folder.
  • The "Folder" column in the device list shows the full path ("Site › Room") and is sortable.

Tenant boundary: A device stays with its tenant. If you drag it into another tenant's section, you see "A device stays with its tenant. You can only move it within "…" — to move it for real, use "Copy host"." A folder, by contrast, may move into another tenant — the whole branch moves along, as long as it holds no device of another tenant. If a move is not possible, the reason is shown; the server has the last word.

Right-click on a device

In the column as in the list: Refresh, Open, Rename (display name only, the internal name stays), Move to folder, Copy Host, Activate/Deactivate, Delete (→ trash).

Device list

The list is grouped by tenant — collapsible cards with status counters. All tenants are expanded by default (also on a fresh installation); what you collapse is remembered by the browser, and the tenant selected in the structure column is always open. Expand all / Collapse all sits above the list. There is deliberately no separate tenant filter — that is what the structure is for.

Folders in the list: The list shows all devices of a tenant in the order of the structure column — without folder rows of its own. The "Folder" column shows where a device lives; if you selected a folder in the structure column, the list shows only its devices (including subfolders).

Dragging in the list: Drag devices and folders in the list exactly as in the column — every row accepts the drop: onto the upper or lower edge of a device row (before/after, also within the same folder) or onto the tenant header (out of the folder). If a column sort is active, moving a device clears it: the list follows the structure order again so you can see the result (a notice says so). If a move is not possible the reason is shown above the list.

Header: The number next to "Hosts" counts truthfully: "21 active · 3 inactive" in full view, "5 of 21 active" as soon as selection, search or filters narrow the view. The Inactive visible/hidden switch shows or hides deactivated hosts — the choice is tied to your user account and also applies to the structure column.

Search and filters:

  • Search by host, IP or tenant (filters the list; the instance-wide search is Jump, Cmd/Ctrl+K)
  • Status quick pick All / Problems / OK
  • Filters popover: monitoring (All / With agent / Without agent), profile, tags — active filters appear as chips and can be removed individually, "Reset all filters" clears everything

Columns: Host, IP, Profile, Tags, Folder, Monitoring, Status — toggle them via the columns menu and sort (IP numerically, folder by path; hosts without a folder always go last). Sorting applies within each tenant group. The column used to be called "Type" and has always shown the device profile.

When space gets tight, Folder, Tags and Profile step aside by themselves — but only as long as you never adjusted the columns yourself; your own choice always wins. The columns menu states which column is currently missing for lack of space.

Per row: A click anywhere in the row opens the device (Enter/Space via keyboard, middle-click in a new tab); links and buttons in the row keep their own function. On the right sit Copy, On/Off, Delete — right-click opens the context menu described above. The "+" in the tenant header creates a host directly in that tenant (see Adding hosts). There are no multi-select bulk actions on the device list — those exist for checks on the host page.

Path bar and neighbour tabs

Above list and device, the path "All devices › Tenant › Folder › Device" is always shown — across the full width, including above the structure column. Every level is clickable and opens the list with exactly that section; clicking the device itself reloads it. So even with the column hidden you see which folder you are in and get back one level per click.

With the structure column hidden, the path bar of an opened device additionally shows its neighbours: the devices of the same folder — or, if it sits in no folder, those of the tenant without a folder. Up to 12 neighbours appear as tabs (name only, no status — for the overview there is the list); beyond that you see "7 of 43" with paging back and forth. With the column open the tabs are omitted, because that is what the column is for.

Structure and Jump

The instance-wide quick search Jump (Cmd/Ctrl+K) finds devices, folders and tenants and jumps there; the path is shown on the right of each hit. Jumping to a folder opens the hosts page with exactly that section and expands it in the column.
