Concepts

Before adding hosts, the six concepts that everything else rests on:

  • Architecture

    How data travels from agent/collector/active collector through receiver, Redis, workers, into the DB and back to the frontend — including the three monitoring modes (passive/agent/active) and the security architecture.

  • Status & state model

    OK / WARNING / CRITICAL / NO_DATA / UNKNOWN / PENDING, three-layer state (UI/alerting), accepted exceptions vs. "in progress", severity order.

  • Profiles & checks

    Two-tier model: profiles describe the device, profile-checks describe what's monitored.

  • License tiers

    Community, Professional, MSP — same features everywhere, difference is only host/tenant limits.

  • Interface & navigation

    Sidebar with resting state, hover and shape; Jump quick search (Cmd/Ctrl+K); user menu; first-steps card.
